Kalarippayat with Amy Schwartz Potter

Kalarippayat with Amy Schwartz Potter

Come early, enjoy a 20 minute warmup with Eight Pieces of Silk Brocade. Stay to learn some fundamentals of a Kalarippayattu practice and enjoy a few yoga vinyasas inspired by the art. Finally, savasana with the sounds of the creek and the caress of late spring breeze at Long Hungry Creek Farm.

Kalaripayattu is the traditional martial art of Kerala, India. It is practiced on the earth and close to nature. The preliminary body exercises of Kalari are excellent tools for anyone who strives for core power and whole body flexibility. This winter I had the priviledge to travel and study under Gurukkal Sudhakaran of CVN Kalari Edakkad in Calicut India. Here is a blog that I started as a collection of some of the information that I brought back with me.
